Police investigate suspected suicide shooting incident on Lumumba Avenue

The territorial Police at Wandegeya have launched an investigation into a suspected suicide by shooting incident that occurred today at approximately 9 am, as confirmed by the Deputy Spokesperson of the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Luke Owoyesigyire in a statement.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as Rogers Atuhaire, an employee of SGA Security Company.

"Atuhaire Rogers, who had been deployed at the beat for the past two days, was found dead at the scene," stated Owoyesigyire.

Initial reports suggest that the deceased was discovered by David Okudu, a day guard who had arrived for duty.

"David reported hearing the sound of a gun being cocked, assuming it was a routine safety precaution,” Owoyesigyire explained.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police made several observations.

“Rogers Atuhaire was found lying in a pool of blood, with a bullet wound visible on his throat, which had penetrated through his head," said Onyango.

As part of the investigation process, witness statements have been recorded, and relevant exhibits have been recovered.

"Additionally, six individuals have been brought in for questioning to assist in the ongoing investigations,” Owoyesigyire added.

The police have assured the public that a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident will be carried out.
