President Museveni meets Buganda clan leaders

Thursday June 13 2024

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni met with Buganda Kingdom clan leaders over the weekend at State House Entebbe. The delegation, led by the Minister of State for ICT, Hon. Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo, discussed various issues, including wealth creation and development.

During the meeting on Saturday, 8th June 2024, President Museveni urged the clan leaders to promote the National Resistance Movement's (NRM) message of wealth creation among the masses. This meeting followed a previous interaction between the two parties last year, where the clan leaders had requested the President to purchase land for them, a request to which he agreed.

The clan leaders expressed their intention to construct two buildings on the 2.2-acre piece of land gifted to them by the President. These buildings are planned to house cultural resource centers such as a museum and a theater.

In response, President Museveni agreed to facilitate the construction of the buildings using the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Engineering Brigade. Additionally, he pledged to support the Bataka Sacco with Shs200 million.
