In the aftermath of the murder of the former Buyende District police commander Muhammad Kirumira, the deputy speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah has weighed in and said Ugandans need to devote themselves to God and move away from their wicked ways.

Speaking at a fundraising drive at Mulanda parish catholic church in Tororo where he was the chief guest, Oulanyah says, may be as a country we have sinned against God but it was time we dedicated ourselves to prayer for the  intervention of the almighty.

He says, it was time that all the religious leaders and Ugandans of various faith came out and prayed for Gods forgiveness amidst challenges the country was rocked with.

Oulanyah's remarks follow weeks of riots and demonstrations sparked off by the shooting and the arrest of members of parliament during the Arua by election and the assassination of
police officer Muhammad Kirumira.

The speaker who planted a tree also reminded the congregation that comprised of a host of members of parliament and residents that Uganda had come through a number of challenges and people should come together and work towards sustaining the gains.
