Teachers sad as Museveni declines to raise pay
The Secretary General of the Uganda National Teachers’ Union, Filbert Baguma, says the celebrations of the belated World Teachers’ Day resembled a funeral on one hand and a party on the other. Baguma notes that the difference in the appearance of the teachers at the event was due to the discrepancy in earnings between science and humanities teachers. The mood shifted after President Museveni called for patience, pledging a salary increment across the board once the economy improves.
