Uganda Alcohol industry calls for crackdown on illicit alcohol
The Uganda Alcohol Industry Association has asked the government to focus on legislating against illicit alcohol production, which accounts for 65% of what is consumed. They told a joint committee of parliament on health and trade, which is scrutinizing the Alcoholic Drinks Control Bill of 2023, that illicit alcohol is cheap and easily accessed yet it is not certified by the standards body.
