Uganda loses over Shs 31.3 Trillion annually to Gender-Based Violence
Uganda incurs a loss of more than Shs 31.3 trillion annually due to violence against women and girls, and gender-based violence, according to the Budgeting for Peace report released today by the Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE). The report highlights the economic and social costs of gender-based violence, including costs associated with transport, medical treatment, psychological care, sexual and reproductive health services, legal fees, referrals, and even death-related expenses, among others.
