Uganda railway extends passenger train services to Mukono, aims to ease traffic congestion
Train passenger services by the Uganda Railway Corporation have been extended to Mukono Municipality. For a long period, the service has been available between Kampala and Namanve. The service is expected to decongest the busy Kampala - Jinja road if travelers who have been plying the route using commuter taxis, personal cars, and boda boda bikes, start using the passenger train. Uganda Railway Corporation officials say that in the next three years, they are to transform the rail sector to cover more areas in the country. The railway corporation has today celebrated 123 years of existence.
