Uganda urged to expand biomass systems for energy needs
According to energy sector statistics, Uganda's total standing biomass stock is estimated at 284.1 million tons annually, with a potential sustainable biomass supply of 45 million tons per year. Nonetheless, only 26 million tons of sustainable wood biomass are available annually, which satisfies just 59% of the country's 44 million tons of annual demand. This has rekindled the need for capacity expansion in contemporary biomass systems that can effectively utilize the available stock and supply suitable bioenergy for institutional and residential needs.
