UHRC highlights environmental rights amid deforestation
The Uganda Human Rights Commission has raised concerns over the breach of environmental rights due to the widespread degradation of natural resources, particularly illegal logging in Uganda’s forests. With alarming levels of deforestation and a significant gap in public awareness regarding environmental rights, the Commission, which has dedicated this year's Human Rights Day to highlighting the critical link between the environment and human rights, has called upon other government agencies to intensify their sensitization outreach to empower communities in promoting environmental rights. It has also raised concerns about urban residents, who are grappling with increasing noise pollution from bars and places of worship. David Ijjo has the details for us.
