12:10PM: Kadaga asks government to import Cuban nursery school teachers


Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga wants government to import nursery teachers from Cuba, to help Ugandans change their attitude towards vocational education.

Kadaga says that on her recent visit to Cuba, she noticed that three-year-old children play games in chemistry, physics, hairdressing and other vocational skills.


11:45AM: Muhakanizi directs on Asians properties

The Permanent Secretary in the Finance ministry, Mr Keith Muhakanizi, has directed that any person who is found not acting in compliance with the law in connection with the allocation of properties belonging to departed Asians should be held liable.
In a May 23 letter to the executive secretary of the Departed Asian Property Custodian Board (DAPCB), Mr Muhakanizi said the custodian board cannot cancel a repossession certificate without a court order once issued.

10:45AM: Influx of applicants scare old UBC staff

The big number of applications pouring in for recently advertised jobs with Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) has damped morale of current staff with the national broadcaster.

Sources inside UBC say ever since the revamp team appointed by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology recommended a total overhaul of the human resource, the staff have developed negative attitude towards work.
