NTV PANORAMA: Ghosts of privatization haunt Uganda 30 years later
After years of back-and-forth shuffling, Finance minister Matia Kasaija pulled the plug on the Privatisation Unit last December and the winding up process is expected to be completed by end of next month. The unit, previously charged with monitoring parastatals and divesting public enterprises, was among the remaining reminders of the economic policies adopted by the NRA government in the late 80s and early 90s. More than three decades later ghosts of the reforms continue to haunt the country with so much forgotten.
