The Uganda Red Cross Society has provided emergency support to over 250 families affected by devastating floods in the Elgon region, after River Nalugugu burst its banks. The flooding claimed one life, displaced numerous residents, destroyed homes, wiped out crops, and killed several livestock. A section of a key bridge was also washed away, further worsening the situation in the area.
In response, the Red Cross distributed non-food relief items to the affected families and issued an urgent warning to residents still living in high-risk areas prone to landslides and flash floods.
