The Uganda Wildlife Authority, in partnership with the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre, has introduced African grey parrots to Ngamba Island in a bid to boost tourism and promote conservation. The parrots are part of a group of 119 rescued from traffickers at the Bunagana border with the Democratic Republic of Congo in April 2022. UWA says Ngamba Island was selected for this initiative because of its sustainable environment, which is ideal for bird conservation.
