Government launches USD 11 million market project at Elegu border hub

The government has launched the construction of a 41-billion-shilling ($11 million) modern market at Elegu, a key trade hub on the South Sudan border. East African Community Affairs Minister Rebecca Kadaga says the 24-month project aims to boost cross-border commerce while tackling recurrent flooding and cholera outbreaks affecting more than 20,000 residents. The market is funded by Uganda, Denmark, and the EU under its Global Gateway Corridor program. Tobbias Owiny reports.
