Kampala, like many other rapidly growing African cities, is experiencing an impressive urban transformation with towering skyscrapers popping up all over the skyline. However, this rapid development has come at a cost. Despite the absence of extreme natural disasters in Uganda, building collapses have become an all-too-common tragedy. The same structures that are driving economic growth are also taking lives, whether it be those constructing them, residing in them, or conducting business within them.
