Uganda Airlines to launch new African routes for growth
Uganda Airlines has announced the launch of three new destinations across the African continent. The airline will begin scheduled services to Harare (Zimbabwe), Abuja (Nigeria), and Lusaka (Zambia) in three months. According to officials, these new routes are expected to help the airline break even within 18 months, largely due to cargo revenue. The expansion also marks the fifth anniversary and conclusion of the carrier’s three-year strategic plan aimed at building an efficient regional route network and improving overall fleet utilization.
Uganda Airlines has increased frequencies to both Nairobi (Kenya) and Juba (South Sudan) and now operates 19 daily departures from Entebbe International Airport, contributing 20% of the airport’s total traffic.
The Chief excutive Jennifer Bamuturaki also saying the launch of the routes comes at the time the airline is celebrating 5 years in operation.
