Uganda races to meet EU demands on coffee export standards
Uganda has until 31st December 2024 to demonstrate that all coffee exports to the European Union market are deforestation-free and traceable to the farmer. The Uganda Coffee Development Authority has already established a coffee registry as a precursor to the national coffee traceability system. The government is expected to increase funding for mapping activities using GPS coordinates for all coffee farmers or risk losing 60% of its coffee market.
