BILATERAL RELATIONS :South Sudanese envoy discusses trade, security
After two years of service as South Sudan's ambassador to Uganda, Simon Juach Deng is moving to a new duty station in Harare, Zimbabwe. Deng has been heavily involved in resolving issues affecting the relationship between Uganda and South Sudan, especially the trade row of 2023. During this time, authorities in Juba impounded seventy-four Ugandan trucks after questioning the quality of maize flour they were carrying, said to be contaminated with aflatoxins.In the following report, he reflects on some of the most challenging tasks he in his time as head of the Kampala mission.
