High Court delays ruling on Wakiso wetland demolition case
The High Court Civil Division is yet to deliver the final ruling on a case in which residents from three villages—Kibiri, Bugu, and Busabala in Wakiso District—accuse NEMA of illegally marking their houses for demolition on allegations that they were built in a wetland. Although the court had earlier in October set today as the ruling date, Justice Douglas Singiza, through a court clerk, informed residents that he would share his ruling electronically before the end of the day. However, the residents' lead lawyer, Yasiin Ssentumbwe, argued that before delivering the ruling, the court should first consider their recently filed miscellaneous applications seeking to include the Minister for Water and Environment and the Attorney General as respondents in the matter.
