Human rights advocates call for an end to abuse of domestic workers
The Uganda Human Rights Commission has expressed concern over the continued violation of domestic workers' rights, labeling it unacceptable. In its 27th annual report, the commission is now asking parliament to expedite the enactment of the proposed Domestic Workers Protection and Welfare Bill to regulate domestic work.
The commission further urges all people employing domestic workers to treat them with dignity and respect, with the domestic workers equally expected to respect the rights of their employers and their families.
