Legacy of catechists Daudi Okelo and Jildo Irwa lives on after 107 years
One hundred and seven years ago, Daudi Okelo and Jildo Irwa were killed in Paimol, in the present-day Agago district in Northern Uganda. They were teenagers who were teaching people the word of God before they met their death, immediately following the foundation of the Kitgum mission by the Comboni Missionaries in 1915. More than a century later, Okelo and Irwa's legacy lives on, with the Catholic Church crediting them for their involvement in the spread of Catholicism in Acholi land.
