Makerere ENT professionals urge government to boost specialist training
Professionals from Makerere University's Ear, Nose, and Throat department are appealing to the government to invest more in training resources to increase the number of ENT specialists produced each year. Currently, the Makerere University department can only produce five postgraduate specialists every five years, who are commonly known as ENT surgeons. This is in contrast to the high public demand that these specialists face. As Walter Mwesigye reports, the university is only able to do this through collaborations with other entities, a matter that is not seen as a lasting solution.
