NEMA to shut down Busia sugar factory
National Environment Management Authority NEMA has directed the closure of Busia sugar factory after the team discovered that the factory was given a license to process sugar but changed to manufacturing alcohol without applying for a new license. The NEMA board of directors discovered this during an inspection of factories in Eastern Uganda aimed at ensuring compliance with environmental protection standards. They inspected four establishments.
