Police block NUP public rallies following car crash
Police have announced the suspension of National Unity Platform public rallies, including nationwide tours, following an accident at Maya in Kyengera Town Council, which left three people dead and others injured as the NUP leadership headed to Masaka. According to police spokesperson Fred Enanga, NUP disregarded guidelines agreed upon with the police on 27 May 2024, which included road usage. Enanga says that these activities will resume after the investigations into the Maya accident are concluded. Police strongly warn those who defy this directive that they will be held accountable.
