Rwandan arrested for illegal soft drink manufacturing
In Kabale District, security operatives have apprehended a Rwandan national for allegedly operating an illegal Marishari health soft drink factory in Kyanamira Sub County. The Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma, reported that the suspect was operating without a license or a certificate from the National Environment Management Authority. He was found with a forged certificate from the Uganda National Bureau of Standards. The drink, purported to have medicinal properties for treating ulcers, leukemia, and other ailments, was being distributed in Mbarara, Ntungamo, Kabale, Kisoro, and Rukiga districts.
