Somalia formally joins the regional bloc
Somalia has officially become the eighth member of the East African Community by signing the accession treaty. The Horn of Africa nation gained admission during the 23rd EAC ordinary heads of state summit held last month in Arusha, Tanzania. The accession treaty was signed by the Somali President at State House Entebbe, where President Museveni hosted the regional leaders in a function attended by Daniel Kibet.
