Uganda launches Anti-Tick vaccine trial for farmers
In 2014, the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) began research into the effectiveness of a locally made anti-tick vaccine to help farmers across the country. The farmers had been negatively impacted by ticks on their farms due to purchasing fake drugs and vaccines. Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja launched the anti-tick vaccine trial on October 27, 2022, at the Mbarara Zonal Research and Development Institute (MbaZARDI) in Mbarara City, where farmers can now begin testing the vaccine on animals.
