UPC leadership opposes MP Richard Lumu’s proposal
Uganda Peoples Congress Party President Jimmy Akena opposes a proposal to elect the Leader of Opposition, suggesting instead that the opposition party with the most MPs should hold this role to effectively oversee the government. Akena's comments came after a consultative meeting with Mityana South Legislator Richard Lumu, who is seeking to amend the Administration of Parliament Amendment Bill 2024. Akena supports some amendments, especially regarding the election of house commissioners.
