Bunyoro Kingdom alarmed by destruction of cultural sites

Officials from the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom have raised the alarm over the widespread destruction of more than 30 sacred cultural sites on Kyangwali ancestral land near Bugoma Forest in Kikuube District. Once home to historic landmarks such as the secret Muhangaizima wells and the former palace of King Kyebambe Nyamutukura, the area has now been heavily cleared by maize cultivators.
