Nepal protests escalate, parliament building set on fire amid anti-corruption demonstrations

Protestors have vandalised and set fire to Nepal’s Parliament building in Kathmandu amid anti-corruption demonstrations across the country. Demonstrators defied an indefinite curfew and clashed with police a day after 19 people died in violent protests triggered by a social media ban. The death toll has risen to 22, and over 200 people have been admitted to various health facilities.
Prime Minister Sharma Oli has also resigned after protestors vandalised and set fire to his private residence. Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport is entirely closed as protests continue to escalate. Here is more.
