Youth unveil Pay-As-You-Go Tractors

For a long time, limited access to finance and mechanization has hindered Africa’s young and female farmers. However, this is rapidly changing in Uganda. A partnership between Heifer International and agri-tech startup Hello Tractor is scaling up its Pay-As-You-Go tractor model, giving youth affordable access to modern farming tools. According to Heifer International Programme Technical Lead, Mr. Wabwire Ronald, 10 new tractors were handed over to young entrepreneurs as part of a growing initiative that has already empowered 70,000 smallholder farmers and created hundreds of jobs.
