Experts highlight importance of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage

Uganda is a signatory to the 2003 UNESCO Convention on the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Culture experts say safeguarding this heritage means strengthening the tangible and intangible elements that allow communities to evolve while passing down their traditions, values, and stories to future generations. Among these priceless traditions is oral history, a heritage now being preserved through documentation. Benjamin Jumbe explores the importance of keeping Uganda’s oral history alive.
