Absence of female presidential candidate sparks debate on women’s leadership progress

It has been a protracted struggle for women to climb the leadership ladder in Uganda. Over the years, more women have made strides in political and business leadership. However, various hurdles still exist. Some women leaders and activists believe that the absence of a female presidential candidate in the 2026 general elections points to the fact that the journey toward achieving the desired goals is still long.
