Rhino conservation strategy; gov’t gets boost on UGX 40 billion goal

Uganda’s ambitious 40-billion shilling rhino conservation strategy has received a massive boost. A campaign dubbed “Name and Save a Rhino” has raised over 140 million dollars, while also celebrating the naming of 17 newborn calves. The strategy aims to grow the rhino population beyond 100 and restore historic habitats in Ajai and Kidepo, according to Uganda Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Ms. Juliana Kaggwa, Martha Nimusiima reports.
