Teso, Bugisu leaders want Amuriat to step down for Nandala
The FDC elders and religious leaders in the Teso and Bugisu are appealing to Party President Patrick Amuriat Obol to step down for Nathan Nandala Mafabi in the race for the FDC presidential Flag. The delegates meeting in Mbale yesterday say Amuriat should spare the party the expense of a delegates' conference, following fears that the FDC could split further. The party has suffered two splits that have birthed both the People's Front for Freedom and the Alliance for National Unity parties. The elders insist these splits came out of previous delegates' conferences.
