Committee probes contested nomination of new Namirembe Diocese Bishop
A committee that was set up by the Church of Uganda House of Bishops to probe the contested nomination process of a new bishop of Namirembe Diocese has started its work. The Adhoc committee was formed on 4th October following protests from a section of Anglicans against the nomination processes citing alleged corruption and flouting of the church’s laws regarding the election of the new bishop. The 5- 5-member committee led by Rt. Rev. Johnson Gakumba is expected to report back to the House of Bishops in November. The committee's report will guide how the nomination and election of the new bishop of Namirembe diocese will be carried out.
