EALA last sitting collapses:Lack of quorum impeded the transaction of business
The Kampala sessions of the East African Legislative Assembly have closed on a low note after the assembly failed to successfully hold its last plenary. A section of the legislators suspected that the session failed ahead of a possible introduction of a report on corruption by the East African Secretariat, with Kenyan representatives skipping the morning session. This technically denied the house the necessary quorum for the assembly to transact business. The collapse followed information circulating on social media that the Speaker of the regional assembly Joseph Ntakirutimana had dismissed the motion for his censorship.
