Farmers in the Kigezi subregion, like many across Uganda, are struggling with the severe impacts of climate change. Unpredictable rainfall patterns and prolonged droughts have depleted soil nutrients, reducing agricultural yields and threatening food security. Environmental degradation, driven largely by human activities such as deforestation and unsustainable farming practices, has contributed to rising temperatures and worsening climate conditions in the region. The latest Climate Risk Profile for Uganda, released by GIZ, highlights the country's limited capacity to adapt in the agricultural sector, emphasizing the urgent need for farmers to adopt climate-smart techniques to mitigate the effects of climate change.
