Health workers blame rising preterm births on malnutrition
Health workers in Kamwenge district have blamed the high number of preterm births, stillbirths, and miscarriages among expectant mothers on malnutrition and food insecurity in the region. They say this negative trend prevents the bodies of expectant mothers from supporting child growth. Dr. Ivan Mujuni, the head of Rukunyu General Hospital, explains that out of the 300 women receiving antenatal services monthly, at least 15 reportedly experience miscarriages and stillbirths.
