Inside URA’s plan to tax food consumed by workers
Uganda Revenue Authority has launched a campaign to see some companies that attract huge profits account for the Value Added Tax on food supplied to their employees. Robert Kalumba, URA's acting Assistant Commissioner for Public and Corporate Affairs, says the companies targeted are those that have cheated the government for long by claiming to have charged Value Added Tax on the food consumed by their employees. The government hopes to save money in this new move but this has left more questions than answers.
