LDC questions Opposition leader selection Bill
The Law Development Centre has questioned the motive behind the proposed legislation to change the mode of choosing the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament. While delivering their position to the Parliamentary Committee on Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, the Law Development Centre asserts that the bill, in its current form, if enacted, will weaken political competition in Uganda, thus endangering democracy. Paul Lumu, the Head of the Department of Law Reporting, Research, and Law Reforms at the LDC, says the Administration of Parliament (Amendment) Bill 2024 is not needed at this time, as Juma Kirya reports.
