Legislators to meet business community on state of trading
A scheduled meeting between Kampala traders and the members of the regional Parliament has been rescheduled to unspecified day. Chairperson of Uganda EALA Chapter, George Odongo says the traders appealed for a full day engagement instead of the planned half day activity and in the presence of the taxman. He tells Jackson Onyango that the consultative meeting will provide insights on the state of trading within the community to strengthen and guide the formulation of policies and laws. The Kampala sitting of the East African Legislative had planned to pass the long overdue law on harmonisation of standards dubbed the Standardisation, Accreditation, Conformity and Assessment Bill, 2023.
