MPS dispute call for private firms to get tax waivers
Members of Parliament of the finance committee have tasked the sector ministry and the Uganda Revenue Authority to explain to them the criteria used to waive taxes on eight entities. This follows questions raised on firms such as M/S J2E, said to be undertaking construction works in army barracks, failing to remit tax-worthy UGX 2.7 billion, as the Defence Ministry had not paid them in a while.
The MPs are also asking about a firm owned by a one Donato Kananura, which failed to pay over UGX 2 billion as the proprietor of the company has been sick for a while, with the funds being used for his treatment.
