MPS make one step into actualization of monetary union agreement
The East African Legislative Assembly has made one step toward the actualization of the still-distant Monetary Union Protocol that will see the region end up with a single currency. Members of the assembly approved and passed a report of the committee that provided that the bill on East African Financial Services, 2022 be reconsidered without a fresh introduction that could further delay its processing. The bill is one of the four that are required to be in place in order for the monetary union to take off.
