NUP appoints Kivumbi as Buganda Deputy President, replaces Mpuuga
The National Executive Committee of the National Unity Platform (NUP) has appointed Butambala County MP Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi as the party's Deputy President for the Buganda Region. Kivumbi replaces Mathias Mpuuga, who, according to NUP Secretary General David Rubongoya, has departed from the party. The development follows disagreements between the NUP leadership and Mpuuga, who was accused of benefiting from the UGX 1.7 billion awarded to the four Parliamentary Commissioners as a service award.
