Poor infrastructure cited as challenge to coffee business
As African governments focus on strengthening trade and investment targeting the African Continental Free Trade Area, Uganda’s coffee has been identified as a key tradable commodity. The commodity is tradable in countries such as Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, and Sudan, but the market is being hindered by inadequate infrastructure, which limits connectivity. Joseph Nkandu, the executive director of the National Union of Coffee Agribusinesses and Farm Enterprises, says the government must take action to unlock the potential.
