Queries raised over use of COVID-19 funds
The Auditor General has unearthed numerous irregularities in how the ministries, agencies, departments and district local governments utilized the COVID-19 intervention funds. In his report presented to the speaker of parliament, John Muwanga noted that government has only released 311 billion to 134 districts and 11 MDAs out of the 4.3 trillion budgeted. Aside from breaching the procurement guidelines and unaccounted for funds, the Auditor General has implicated the Office of Prime Minister for procuring poor quality maize and beans for distribution to Ugandans.
