Refugees launch inaugural Christmas market
Uganda hosts over 1.7 million refugees and asylum seekers, the largest refugee population in Africa and the 6th largest in the world. Urban refugees face socioeconomic challenges. In a bid to encourage self-reliance, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) have joined hands to set up a refugee Christmas market. As LYDIA FELLY AKULLU reports, the market is designed to help refugees coexist with Ugandan nationals.
