UPDF and Congolese Forces rescue 40 from ADF captivity
The Uganda People's Defence Forces and their Congolese counterparts rescued 40 people from ADF captivity, mostly women and children, following a fight in Biakato, Mambasa Territory, which is 67 km northwest of Beni in Ituri Province. During Operation Shujaa in eastern DRC, the forces also recovered nine firearms, including eight submachine guns and one PK machine gun, along with six walkie-talkies, multiple rounds of ammunition, and other items, including human medicine. The UPDF Commander of Operation Shujaa, Maj. Gen. Richard Otto, flew to Biakato to oversee the evacuation of the rescued civilians and congratulated the troops on the successful execution of the operation.
