NTV PANORAMA: Museveni’s changing views on leaving power
Uganda’s history of violence is well captured in the preamble of the 1995 Constitution. From the 1966 crisis to the disputed election of 1980 which propelled Museveni to wage a rebel war after which he promised among other things a fundamental revolution, these contests have been ruinous. To prevent any other dark chapter it was hoped the magic lay in peaceful transfer of power. It is however not clear how and when this will take place as President Museveni starts another term in office
